About the Artist
I opened a fortune cookie about a year ago, and the slip of
paper read: "Where others see discards, you find treasures". I look
at scraps, shattered china, broken jewelry, etc. and visualize how they can be
re-used. For example, the mixed media collage/painting, “To Sleep, Perchance To
Dream”, includes pieces of truck tire, lights etc. picked up at a truck stop in
Emporio, VA.
I will also use digital photos of my physical artwork, assemblages and jewelry
for my digital art, employing programs such as Paint, Microsoft Picture It and
PhotoShop Elements to create an entirely different art image. I love working
with acrylics in combination with mixed media and collage techniques to create
a distinct atmosphere – of mystery, whimsy, organic movement or a stillness
born of unfulfilled dreams.”
